Enrollment Certification Policies
Only students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking program and courses may have their enrollments certified. LMU does not certify LMU Extension courses or programs.
Only courses required by my degree program are eligible for benefits. The VA will not pay for courses which are not listed as a requirement of my program.
Submit this form each term after registration; only terms with enrollments are certified.
Do you plan to use VA benefits in your last semester at LMU? See the VA Rounding Out policy. The VA requires full-time standing in your last semester even if your degree program requires fewer units. The policy will explain this.
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is not required to receive veteran’s benefits or for the Yellow Ribbon program. However, as a veteran, you may also apply for other forms of financial aid. Review our financial aid website for information on grants and scholarships for which you might qualify. See the details on how to apply.
Required and Elective Courses
LMU is authorized by the VA as a degree-granting institution. As such, it may certify courses which are explicitly required by the degree program. Most undergraduate programs allow for a determined amount of "free electives" which means you may take a course(s) not required by your curriculum. However, the course(s) must be used to meet the overall unit requirement for your degree.
Repeat Courses
In addition to federal/state and LMU aid, veterans and dependents of veterans have the ability to use the Post 9/11 GI Bill (chapter 33/YR) for Study Abroad. The bill can be used to pay tuition for LMU-sponsored study abroad and faculty-led programs; in both programs, LMU courses are taught and LMU grades are assigned at the end of the term.
Disclaimer: It is the student's responsibility to understand their eligibility to use the GI Bill and coordinate the application of funds. Any amounts payable are reduced if the student is not eligible at the 100% payment tier.
N.B. The VA cannot pay any fees such as airline tickets and program fees specific to studying abroad at LMU as it does not have a degree program which requires study abroad.
I have read and agree to the Certification Policies.
I ask LMU to submit my degree required enrollments for me to the VA. I understand that LMU's submission does not imply I have benefits to use. The VA will deny my enrollment certification if I do not have benefits available.
I am responsible to pay LMU tuition, fees, and outstanding balances not paid by the VA.
